[Semantic Web]A Brief Introduction to KAON2 |
Lee 发表于 2006/2/25 11:55:38 |
KAON2 is an infrastructure for managing OWL-DL and SWRL ontologies.
KAON2 provides the following features:
(1)An API for programmatic management of OWL-DL and SWRL ontologies,
(2)A stand-alone server providing access to ontologies in a distributed manner using RMI,
(3)An inference engine for answering conjunctive queries (expressed using SPARQL syntax),
(4)A DIG interface, allowing access from tools such as Protete,

[Semantic Web]Jena vs. Sesame (supplement) |
Lee 发表于 2006/2/25 10:38:20 | The SAIL API specifically deals with RDFS on the retrieval side: it offers methods for querying class and property subsumption, and domain and range restrictions. In contrast, both Jena and Redland focus exclusively on the RDF triple set, leaving interpretation of these triples as an excercise to the user. In SAIL, these RDFS inferencing tasks are handled internally. The main reason for this is that there is a strong relationship between the e ciency of the inferencing and the actual storag

[Semantic Web]Storage And Inference Layer (SAIL) |
Lee 发表于 2006/2/24 17:35:55 |
SAIL is an application programming interface (API) that offers RDFspecific methods to its clients and translates these methods to calls to its specific DBMS. An important advantage of the introduction of such a separate layer is that it makes it possible to implement Sesame on top of a wide variety of repositories without changing any of Sesame's other components.

[Semantic Web]Jena vs. Sesame |
Lee 发表于 2006/2/23 23:27:22 |
Sesame is a repository and querying facility based on RDF and RDF Schema. It features a generic architecture that separates the actual storage of RDF, functional modules offering operation on this RDF, and communication with these functional modules from outside the system. Sesame supports RDF/RDF Schema inference, but is an incomplete reasoner for OWL Lite. It can evaluate queries in SeRQL, RQL and RDQL. We evaluate two implementations of Sesame, main memory-based and da

[Semantic Web]Axioms in OWL |
Lee 发表于 2006/2/23 12:54:03 |
There is three kind of axioms in OWL.
1.Class Axioms
Class descriptions form the building blocks for defining classes through class axioms. The simplest form of a class axiom is a class description of type 1, It just states the existence of a class, using owl:Class with a class identifier.
This is correct OWL, but does not tell us very much about the class Human. Class axioms typically contain additional components that state nece

[Semantic Web]What's RAL |
Lee 发表于 2006/2/22 23:16:28 |
Sesame selected a relational database as the storage mechanism, but is DBMS-independent via the repository abstraction layer (RAL). The RAL is an interface that offers RDF-specific methods to its clients and translates these methods to calls to its specific DBMS. The big advantage of RAL is that it makes it possible to implement Sesame on top of a wide variety of repositories without changing any of Sesame’s other components.
