深深地 head over heels
意思是头朝下和颠倒，也可能解作深深地，而且常用在head over
heels in debt, 意思是背了一身债。
e.g. He gambles so much that he is now head over heels in
debt.
例：他嗜赌如命，现在背了一身债。
无论如何 for love or money
e.g He swears to revenge the insult for love or money.
例：他发誓无论如何都要洗雪耻辱。
重要和基本的部份 part and parcel
e.g. Physical training is part and parcel of an ideal
education system.
例：体育是一套完善的教育方案中的重要部份。
陷于毁灭 go to rack and ruin
e.g. After ten years of hard work, his efforts have gone
down the drain and his business is going to rack and ruin.
例：经过十年的努力，他的心血都白费，生意也失败了。
毫无道理、莫名其妙 without rhyme or reason
e.g. Without any rhyme or reason, the manager dismissed
the five most diligent employees in the company.
例：那经理无缘无故地把公司中最勤奋的五名员工开除了。
踏脚石 stepping stone
e.g. He considers that foresight and determination are
the stepping stone to success in business.
例：他认为先见之明和决心是商业成功的踏脚石。
﹡这个expression 是指达到某目的的手段，先决条件等，相反词
是stumbling block (绊脚石)，指阻碍成功的事物。
暂时不要 to take something on a rain check
e.g. I don't want a cigarette now, thanks, but I'll take a
rain check on it.
例：我现时不想吸烟，谢谢，下次吧。
﹡这是个在英美颇流行的口语，别人给你一些东西，而你又不想要，
你就可以用这句话。rain check 本指因雨延期的表演入场券。
前功尽废 to go down the drain
e.g. Years of efforts went down the drain in the relentless
war.
例：几年来的努力在无情的战争中尽废(化为乌有)。
﹡drain是污水渠，顾名思义，这句是指成果化为乌有了。
如雨后春笋 to mushroom
e.g. With the advent of the computer, institutes offering
basic computer courses are mushrooming everywhere.
例：随着电脑的来临，提供基本电脑课程的电脑学校便如雨后春笋
般纷纷开办。
﹡mushroom原意为蘑菇，它是一种生长得很快的植物，所以用来形
容发展迅速的事物。例句的mushroom作动词用，但我们也可以说to
spring up like mushrooms意义跟例句是相同的。
同样道理 by the same token
e.g. By the same token, you should not look down on him
because he is down and out.
例：同样道理，你不应因他潦倒而看不起他。
﹡token是指象征、标志，例如a token of faith (忠诚的表示)，
此句则与in the same way相通。
