UIMA defines a standard for semantic search and content analytics. The TC has created the ODF Requirements Subcommittee, chaired by Bob Jolliffe of the South Africa Department of Science and Technology, to gather, categorize and prioritize proposals for ODF-Next. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200902/msg00007.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- Organizations employing fewer than 10 people are now eligible to participate in OASIS at the Sponsor level for 9,500 USD per year. This represents a savings over the 12,000 USD dues which previously applied to all companies with fewer than 100 employees. OASIS added the new level to make it easier for small companies to receive full visibility for their contributions to open standards. http://www.oasis-open.org/join/categories.php#dues ------------------------------------------------------------------- The OASIS eGov Member Section announced plans for a workshop in Washington, DC in response to a successful event held in Brussels on 19 Feb. The Belgian Federal Ministry of Finance (SPFF) hosted the Brussels workshop, which had more than 90 registrants from 20 countries. The DC eGov event will be hosted by the World Bank on 17 April and will offer a unique opportunity to exchange experiences amongst professionals from the public administration and the private sector regarding the significance of open standards for efficient and transformational government.
